Survivor Guest Speakers

ATTENTION: Due to health concerns pertaining to Covid-19, Survivor Guest Speakers and Survivor Series are unavailable until FURTHER notice.

The Woodland Cultural Centre is very fortunate to have a number of Residential School Survivors who are willing to share their stories to educate others about the legacy of residential schools in Canada. Most of our survivors attended the Mohawk Institute as children, and will speak to their experience as a means of spreading awareness and healing. Survivors are open to engaging with groups in a Q&A.

$10 administration fee + $175 Survivor’s honorarium (cash or cheque) to be brought the day of your visit.

Contact our Group Tours and Facility Registrar at to book a Survivor guest speaker.

The last Monday of each month we hold our Survivor Series event from 10am-12pm. Our Education staff will give our Residential School presentation, providing insight on the history of the Mohawk Institute and residential schools across Canada, as well as a glimpse inside the day to day life of a child at the “Mush Hole.” Afterwards we will be joined by one of our Survivors who will share their stories, and engage with participants in a Q & A.
