Established in 1975, this is one of the longest-running multimedia exhibitions that provide artists with an opportunity to exhibit and sell their work in a fine art gallery setting. This annual exhibition features upcoming talents as well as senior artists from all over Turtle Island. The contemporary pieces showcase the unique and powerful voices of Indigenous artists. ⁠

The Woodland Cultural Centre would like to thank all the artists who submitted their works. Without the support of artists and communities, we would not have reached 48 years of Indigenous Art at the Woodland Cultural Centre. Your support of our language department is an act of true kindness and love. Our languages are so much more than words on paper – language frames deep philosophical and relational understandings that help all of us engage in kinder, more compassionate ways and are an important part of our healing from the trauma of residential school. Like many not-for-profit organizations that participate in #GivingTuesday, charitable donations form an important part of our financial wellbeing and they are also an important indication that you believe in us and the work we do. ⁠

Join the Woodland Cultural Centre on December 20th at 6:00pm for our Six Nations Land Claims presentation. Your donation will help support our education department to create and deliver virtual programming at the Woodland Cultural Centre. We want to continue to deliver the highest quality programs centered on a Hodinohsho:ni worldview, celebrating, and sharing Indigenous cultures, languages, and art.⁠

Participants will learn about the history of the Hodinohsho:ni, the history of wampum belts and the treaty process, and how this affects land claims today.⁠

New Artist Alert! Woodland Cultural Centre museum gift shop has digital prints available from artist Ryan Woodruff. Ryan Woodruff is an Ojibwe artist whose work is inspired and rooted in his Native heritage. Ryan was born and raised in the Niagara region, and it was here where he first developed his love for art.After completing his education in graphic design and working in the field, Ryan began to explore his artistic talents more deeply and was drawn to the world of Indigenous art. He found inspiration in the rich cultural traditions and history of his people and began to incorporate these elements into his artwork.Ryan's art is characterized by his bold use of color and powerful designs, which reflect the natural world and the spirituality of his people. His artwork is deeply personal, reflecting on his own experiences and beliefs.
