Join us on October 7th from 5:00-8:00pm at Doug Snooks Eagle Place Community Centre for an exciting Community Social in collaboration with Brantford Native Housing, De dwa da dehs nye>s Aboriginal Health Centre, and BRISC!

Thanks to the overwhelming support from our community, we’ve had to relocate to a larger venue to accommodate everyone. Come join us for a night filled with art, dancing, singing, drumming, and delicious food.

Did you miss our virtual Truth and Reconciliation presentation in September? It's back in October!

Join the Woodland Cultural Centre for our virtual Truth and Reconciliation Presentation happening on October 16th at 6:00pm. Your donation will help support our education department to create and deliver virtual programming at the Woodland Cultural Centre. We want to continue to deliver the highest quality programs centered on a Hodinohsho:ni worldview, celebrating, and sharing Indigenous cultures, languages, and art.

This comprehensive presentation covers topics from the Imperial context, Canada’s Indigenous Policy, the Indian Residential Schools Settlement agreement, to the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP).

This year’s installment of Indigenous Art is now closed and it was such a great success! We wanted to thank The Brown Homestead for being such generous partners for 2024. ⁠

We had the pleasure of welcoming The Brown Homestead team to the Woodland Cultural Centre last week for a special appreciation event. We started the day with a lecture from WCC Curator, Patricia Deadman on the background of Indigenous Art and her personal journey and then she hosted an in depth walk through of this years' exhibition. Following this The Brown Homestead team joined our Executive Director, Heather George, for a walk through the former Mohawk Institute Residential School to discuss the heritage work done to the building over the restoration project. Then we rounded out the day with a beading workshop!

We are so grateful for the continued support of The Brown Homestead and we can’t wait to continue this partnership. Stay tuned for the release of our Indigenous Art 2024 exhibition catalogs. ⁠
