Attention! – Descendants of Six Nations of the Grand River World War One Veterans!It has been ten years since the Woodland Cultural Centre hosted the exhibition "Veterans, Warriors and Peacekeepers" the centenary commemoration of our support communities’ response to World War One. The opening for this exhibition was well attended by many descendant families of World War One veterans from Wahta, Tyendinaga, and Six Nations of the Grand River. A miniature 114th Battalion Flag was created for each of the World War One veterans from all three communities. Family members on hand were able to accept their ancestor’s flag in a ceremony that evening.This ceremony can be viewed on YouTube by following this link www.youtube.com/watch?v=61I1QRn0ZMEToday, there are still many flags remaining for Six Nations of the Grand River World War One veterans. This list is of the SNGR veterans still waiting to receive their flags. If you are related to one of the people on this list please stop by the Woodland Cultural Centre to pick up their flag. There is one flag per veteran, which will be given to the family member who claims it for their ancestor first. Please call first to ensure the flag you are claiming is available (519) 759-2650, ext. 223.NOTE: Only those World War One Veterans who have an unclaimed flag are included on this list.
