Join the Woodland Cultural Centre and the Art Gallery of Hamilton on Thursday, March 23rd from 7-9 PM for the Radical Design Fashion Show. This event is showcasing Indigenous fashion designers from across Turtle Island and featuring models from the Six Nations of the Grand River Community.

Organized by Woodland Cultural Centre, in partnership with the Art Gallery of Hamilton, the Radical Design Fashion Show celebrates the By Design: Fashionable Inspiration and Radical Stitch exhibitions currently running. Also on display at the event will be the shawl of beadwork pieces created by community members across both organizations.

Our Language Centre is dedicated to strengthening, revitalizing, and maintaining First Nations Languages, locally, regionally, and nationally. Working for over 35 years with language speakers, Knowledge Keepers, and teachers, they have produced ample community resources in our languages. ⁠

The Language Department has been instrumental in a massive effort to revitalize languages at all levels in the community, including immersion schools and grassroots language programs in our support communities, and across the Hodinohsho:ni Confederacy.⁠

The Woodland Cultural Centre is hosting a virtual Stereotypes and Racism workshop on April 17 at 6pm. Your donation will help support our education department to create and deliver virtual programming. We want to continue to deliver the highest quality programs centered on a Hodinohsho:ni worldview, celebrating, and sharing Indigenous cultures, languages, and art.

In this presentation we will examine stereotypes and racism and how society shapes and perpetuates stereotypes and racism through advertising, movies, system/institutional racism, and more.

The Woodland Cultural Centre invites you to join us on Sunday June 23 from 11:00am – 4:00pm for our National Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration.

Join us for live contemporary and cultural performances, interactive demonstrations including traditional dance and sports, hands on workshops for all ages, shopping with local vendors and artisans, Indigenous foods and more. Tours of our museum and galleries will be available with our knowledgeable guides throughout the day.

There will be an Indigenous Market and food trucks on-site for the day! We encourage you to bring cash for easy payment to vendors. No ATMs on site!

Join the Woodland Cultural Centre in person or online on Saturday May 18, 2024 at 1:00pm as Steve Jacobs (current Deskaheh title holder), Kenneth Deer, Rick Monture, and Karissa John share the history of Levi General’s (Deskaheh) work at the League of Nations and how that has inspired 100 years of Indigenous work to assert Indigenous Rights.

A community meal will be provided for in person attendees. There is limited seating available for in-person attendance, so be sure to register in advance.
