This small resource showcases some of the footwear worn by Indigenous nations from across Canada. Originally a companion to an exhibition of the same name put forth by the Bata Shoe Museum, In the Steps of our Ancestors is best described as a fold-out, Educational pamphlet. On one side, you can see the artistry of the footwear themselves in colour; and on the other side, you are treated to a brief description of what materials are utilized. In the Steps of our Ancestors, for its simplicity, manages to reflects the history, ways of life and beliefs, the climate and geography in which the featured nations lived and the influence of other nations, both Indigenous and European.

All proceeds from the Woodlands Cultural Centre shop helps to preserve and promote Indigenous history, art, language, and culture.
