The Woodland Cultural Centre is thrilled to announce our new solo-retrospective exhibition, “Melanie Monique Rose: Ii moond difleur – The Flower People”.

Melanie Monique Rose is a Metis/Ukrainian visual artist from Regina, Saskatchewan Treaty 4 Territory, a citizen of the Metis Nation of Saskatchewan, and a long-time contributing member of Sâkêwêwak Artists’ Collective Inc. Rose’s work centres on kinship and relationships between the land, ourselves and each other. Through plants and flowers Rose invites transmissions of ancestral knowledge and teachings while also imagining and creating a de-colonial future through the lens of Metis worldviews.

Join us for our opening reception on Saturday April 27 at 2:00pm. Light refreshments and snack will be available. This innovative and inspiring exhibition will be available in the galleries for viewing until June 23, 2024.

Cost: Free with a suggested $10 donation to Arts Programming at the Woodland Cultural Centre

The Woodland Cultural Centre gift shop still has some bath bombs in stock from Roots + Raven! Time to pamper yourself and enjoy some relaxing self care time. ⁠Roots + Raven is a creative goods small business that was started by Tanya Gluvakov of Six Nations of the Grand River. Using elements of nature and interconnection, Tanya has found great knowledge and peace amongst plant kin. She still uses the knowledge she acquired growing up from her grandmother and other members of the community in her adult life and she wishes to share this knowledge with others. Certain elements such as cedar, sage and sweetgrass are woven into Roots + Raven products to share the medicines that they bring.⁠⁠Roots + Raven also grow and harvest many of their own organic herbs and medicines.
