Witness Blanket Opening Reception, Film Screening and Artists Q & A
Witness Blanket will be on display at Woodland Cultural Centre from December 12, 2020 to February 26, 2020. There will be a screening of the Witness Blanket Documentary and opening reception with artist Carey Newman for community members to learn more on December 13, 2020 at 7PM via zoom.
THE ROAD FORWARD Teioia’ks iakwatero:roks “We Watch Movies” Film Series
Woodland Cultural Centre (WCC) is excited to announce the upcoming virtual film screening of the musical documentary “The Road Forward” on February 21, 2021 at 7PM. This event is part of the Teioia’ks iakwatero:roks “We Watch Movies” Film Series. Join us together with Patricia Deadman, Curator (WCC) for a viewing of film followed by a question and answer period.
Spring Break Mohawk Institute Virtual Tour
The virtual tour video was created with local production company Thru the Reddoor, and it follows the guide, Lorrie Gallant, as she gives a tour of the former Mohawk Institute Indian Residential School. During the video Lorrie provides the history of the institution over its 140 year history. Viewers will get to see the different rooms in the school, from the girls’ and boys’ dormitories, the cafeteria, laundry room, and other rooms throughout the building, as well as hear interviews from five Survivors of the Mohawk Institute. (Ages 13+)
Spring Break Corn Cob Keychain Workshop
Join us virtually for our Spring Break Workshop and learn how to make corn cob keychains with beads and leather. We will share the significance of corn and guide you through step by step. Craft Kits available, 1PM & 7PM time slots. (Ages 13+)
