As we approach the unveiling of the former Mohawk Institute dormitory building (let’s not forget — the current museum was once the Mohawk Institute school), here is a sneak peek at some of the items on what was found hidden in the walls during construction...• A girl’s dress shoe• An article of clothing with the sewn-in number “72”• A boy’s Hopalong Cassidy wallet• A piece of wall plaster, signed and dated by daring female students in the 1930sA slideshow of all the school-related items uncovered during construction will be shown during the September 30th Official Unveiling: National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Event.
