Indigenous Art 2021 Artist, Lisa MacIntosh

Welcome to Woodland Cultural Centre’s Indigenous Art 2021 Exhibition.

Established in 1975, this is one of the longest running multi-media exhibitions that provide artists an opportunity to exhibit and sell their work in a fine art gallery setting. WCC is pleased to announce the return of this annual Juried Exhibition and we can’t wait to share the selected works with the public. Indigenous Art 2021 will be running September 11 – November 20, 2021.

Meet Artist, Lisa MacIntosh

I have been a photographer most of my life. I have photographed many well known and accomplished artists/musicians but my most heartfelt work is with people; everyday people with a story to tell. I am thankful for vision, for being able to read and relay a story through my lens. I rarely direct but prefer to rely on patience and trust, watching for moments to unfold. I am a story teller.

‘Water First’ may be the most important photo I have taken to date. Standing behind my lens, having just met Lucy, I was lost in her message. There is power here, community, challenge, truth, injustice. There is a story of culture, its message is raw and shameful. Lucy unknowingly pushed me to ask questions, investigate, feel anger, ache for change.

That is the power of a photo.
